World-class triathlete Hunter Kemper is the only American male triathlete to ever be ranked world number 1 by the International Triathlon Union (ITU).
Kemper’s elite triathlon career is marked by legendary accomplishments. At the 2003 Pan American Games he won the first-ever gold medal for a U.S. male. Hunter was also named US Olympic Committee (USOC) SportsMan of the Year in 2005, and won an unprecedented sixth USA Triathlon (USAT) Elite National Title in 2006. In July of that year, Hunter also won the $200,000 grand prize at the Lifetime Fitness "Battle of the Sexes" Triathlon. Hunter held the number 1 position for the majority of the 2006 season, finishing on the podium in three of his four World Cups.
In 2007 Kemper achieved iconic status when he became the first professional triathlete to appear on the Wheaties box.
